Each course is five weeks long and they run consistently.
We hold short courses as we know how difficult it is to commit to long periods, as some mothers
have to return to work. The classes are half an hour long as the little ones become quite tired.
After which a good meal will induce a long restful sleep.
Does my baby need to have completed
the full immunisation course?
We have a number of babies in our classes who have not completed the full immunisation course.
Diphtheria, tetanus, polio and whooping cough cannot be contracted from Chlorinated water
and current medical research and advice states that there is no reason to wait to go swimming
until the full immunisation course is completed. However we do leave it up to the discretion of
you and your family doctor.
Do parents have to get into the water too
and do they have to be able to swim?
Yes you do get into the water and if space permits, both parents may join in, BORN TO SWIM
promotes as much parent participation as possible. The water level usually comes up to your waist so parents and carers to not need to be the next Olympic gold medallist.
Will my baby really be able to swim?
Children are physically able to lift their heads in and out of the water to breathe at around the age of 2 and a half and 3 years old. Before then they do not really have the strength, endurance and motor skills to master this. So at BORN TO SWIM , we enchance their natural ability to hold their breathe, kick and stroke in a 'doggy style paddling' until they are able to master the standard strokes
Are all the instructors qualified?
Yes, all instructors are ASA qualified and hold a current RLSS qualification,
First Aid certificates and attend regular training workshops.
How much does a course cost?
The cost is £55.00 per course.
After which your baby will receive a certificate of achievement.
Will I be able to take pictures of/with my baby underwater?
We do not recommend that you try this your self. We run underwater photo shoots every
quarter where a professional photographer will take underwater snaps of your treasures
at a cost. (photographers website)
