HOW TO BECOME A BORN TO SWIM INSTRUCTOR?
 
All prospective employee must have/do the following.
 
An Assistant Teachers Swimming qualification.
A full teachers swimming qualification.
A  full lifeguard qualification or a water rescue equivalent
Full first aid qualification specialising in infant life support.
A CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check through BORN TO SWIM head office.
Become a full member of the STA  and fully insured.
Complete your BORN TO SWIM training practical and theory both in and out of the water.
Shadow a senior instructor.(for a minimum of five weeks)
 
How to get your Qualifications.
 
The two national swimming bodies in the UK are the ASA (Amateur swimming association)
and the STA (The Swimming Teachers Association). Both  of the above offers the Assistant teachers and the full teachers qualification.
(The duration and the price of the course may vary.)
 
How to get you Life Saving Qualification.
 
The lifesaving course that you take must be recognised by the STA   (for insurance purposes).
At BORN TO SWIM we would rather all of our instructors hold full lifeguard qualifications.
However we will accept the following.
 
The National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches, awarded by the Royal Life Saving Society.
 
NARS qualification which is equivalent to the above but awarded by the STA.
(Please note the above must incorporate "infant basic life support"
 
Once you have all of the above please submit your C.V to BORN TO SWIM.
 
Completing your BORN TO SWIM Training.
 
Theoretical Training: lectures, discussions and reading.
One on one pool practicals using practice dolls
Learning and adapting our unique BORN TO SWIM training.
Course work and homework (25% of your grade depends on this)
Shadowing senior instructors
Final exam (both practical and theory).
 
How long this training will take depends on how much free time you have but if you are relatively free it should take about 5-7 weeks.
Early swimming lessons promote a healthy, positive foundation towards a lifetime of fun in the water.
